Old £5 note ceases to be legal tender

On the 5th of May 2017 the old cotton based £5 note ceases to be legal tender. From that date businesses should not accept or issue the old notes.

The old notes should be exchanged for the new polymer based £5 note at any Bank, Building Society or the Post Office.
