UK Bank Rate

The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee held the bank rate at 0.25% at its September 2017 meeting.

There is considerable speculation that the rate may be increased at the next meeting on the 2nd November 2017. The speculation was fuelled by comments made by Mark Carney, the Governor of the Bank of England, in a recent speech to the city in which he suggested that a rate increase may be necessary to bring the rate of inflation down to the target of 2%
